We take a trip down memory lane to discuss the Nissan Leaf. While there were good intentions and many innovations, Nissan chose severe cost-cutting that has caused significant issues for many owners. However, the flip side is that the car can be a fantastic buy on the used market for those with curiosity and patience. We show the pros and cons of this affordable electric car. Others to consider are the Chevy Volt, Bolt, Hyundai Kona EV, Kia Soul EV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BMW i3. #cars #technology #engineering Index: 00:00 The Story, Good and Bad 4:51 The Pros and Cons of Driving 11:49 Final Thoughts

The Nissan LEAF has been produced and sold in significant number for nearly fourteen years - and while the majority of those cars are some still happily rolling on their original, healthy battery packs many years later, others are in need of replacement packs. To date, that process has either involved paying a Nissan Dealer a small fortune to have the battery pack replaced with an identical-spec one to that fitted in the car when new; or paying a specialist to replace the battery pack with a newer one from a salvage LEAF. That latter process has relied on reverse-engineering of the Nissan LEAF's CAN bus and developing a hardware and software solution that allows older LEAFs to happily work with more modern LEAF packs. And that reverse-engineering is reflected In the costs associated with asking a specialist to replace the battery pack. But now Daniel (Dala) of Dala's EV Repair in Finland has announced that he's open-sourcing the technique he's used to successfully upgrade customer's LEAFs to larger, newer packs. #MG4 #NissanLEAF #electriccars MG4 review: 🤍 Nissan LEAF review: 🤍 Whenever we talk about electric cars, there’s one thing that always comes up. It’s not charging, it’s not range - it’s price. There’s no getting away from the fact that electric cars are a lot of money. While there are cars at the more affordable end of the market, such as the MINI and the Fiat 500e, they aren’t much good as practical family vehicles. If you want space, range and practicality, you’ll be looking at a price tag in excess of £30,000. Or will you? Despite rampant inflation and price hikes, there are still two five-door, five seat family cars that can be picked up for less than £30,000. Say hello to the Nissan LEAF and the MG4. The Nissan may be the elder statesman of the electric car market these days, but that doesn’t mean that it has lost any of its appeal. Spacious, loaded with kit and decent to drive, it still makes a great buy. As does the one of the newest arrivals on the market, the MG4. This award-winning five door has redefined what buyers can expect in the sub-£30,000 sector with its sharp looks and great range. But is the MG still the winner when you look at ALL the figures? Join Nicki and Mike as they crunch the numbers and compare every detail to work out which makes the best buy. Which would you choose? As always, we love to hear your opinion, so leave your thoughts in the comments below. ——————————————————————————————- We upload new videos to Electrifying.com every week. Should You Buy a used Nissan Leaf Mk2? The original Nissan Leaf was among the very first mainstream electric cars to go on sale. It was such a pioneer, in fact, that by the time other manufacturers caught up and started offering EVs, Nissan was already on to the second generation Leaf. As a result, there's no shortage of examples of the Mk2 Nissan Leaf on the used market in 2022. Which, of course, is great news for those who might be thinking about making the switch to an electric car without the expense of buying a brand new model. The Leaf Mk2 is available with two battery options. The first is a 40kWh battery, while the second is a 62kWh battery offered from 2019 onwards in the Leaf-e model. You can expect a range of up to about 140 miles from the smaller battery, or 210 miles from Leaf-e, which represent solid but not class-leading numbers. In this CarGurus UK review, electric car expert Vicky Parrott explains what you need to know if you're in the market for a used Nissan Leaf, as well as talking about its space and practicality, charging, in-car technology and infotainment, and what it's like to drive. The Nissan EV Leaf has two versions, the S and the SV Plus. The standard S package features a 40.0-kWh battery pack, while the SV Plus features a larger 62.0-kWh battery.
